Hearth Products

The Hearth Products Department works with manufacturers that sell both Gas and Wood Burning Appliances. These appliances fall under a listing program and use the PFS mark on the product(s). The Hearth Products Department evaluates and certifies that the appliances conform to the applicable national, state and/or Federal standard(s) for both the United States and/or Canada. This program provides Hearth Product manufacturers with an acceptance that is recognized in the industry and that building code officials, architects, engineers, designers, and specifiers know and trust. Some examples of products certified by the Department include:

  • Factory Built Wood Burning Fireplaces
  • Free Standing Wood and Coal Burning Stoves
  • Vented and Vent Free Gas Fireplaces and Stoves
  • Vented and Vent Free Gas Log Appliances
  • Pellet Burning Appliances
  • Gas and Wood Burning Fireplace Inserts
  • Outdoor Decorative Gas Appliances
  • Outdoor Gas Grilles and Accessories
  • Outdoor Gas and Wood Burning Fireplaces
  • EPA Certified Pellet or Wood Burning Stoves and Fireplaces

EPA Wood Heater Emmisions Test Laboratory - Portland, Oregon

On December 31, 2017, PFS TECO has aquired Dirigo Laboratories to expand its testing offering in the EPA Wood Heater Emissions Program. John Steinert will continue to run the Portalnd, Oregon laboratory as a part of the PFS TECO Hearth Products Department.
